Newcastle Knights vs Parramatta Eels | NRL Round 13 2026 Tips

May 29, 2026

Newcastle Knights     vs     Parramatta Eels

The Knights are -14.5 favourites with the total at 53.5. The H2H favourite cover rate is the strongest in the round at 8 of 10 (80%). A steep line here is consistent with the long-term pattern. Parramatta have a habit of springing this fixture, including a 40-4 belting as a big underdog back in 2021, but this is a different Eels side and one stripped of its two most important players.

The Knights are full strength. Ponga and Saifiti back up from Origin and Holbrook has named the same side that beat the Titans. Newcastle sit 7-4, 8 ATS from 11, and averaging 28.4 points a game. The attack is genuine and they are playing as well as anyone in the competition right now.

The Eels arrive gutted. No Mitchell Moses, no Junior Paulo (out for around eight weeks with knee surgery), and Jack Williams captaining from the front row. Iongi returns at fullback but the halves are patched together with Papalii pushed to five-eighth and Volkman at halfback.

The data point I keep coming back to is the Eels without Moses since 2023: 12-19 ATS at 39%. Moses isn't running out this week, and Parramatta also have to do without Paulo and with a new halves combination behind a depleted forward pack.

The Knights at -14.5 asks a lot, but the team-news gap is as wide as any in the round and the Knights attack is scary right now. They dispatched the Dragons 44-10 and the Titans 36-12 as -9.5 favourites over the last fortnight, comfortably covering both on the road. The Eels sit near the bottom of the table alongside those two sides, and where those wins came away from home, this one is at McDonald Jones. This is exactly the spot where big lines get cleared. The Knights cover is the play.

On the total, 53.5 is high. Newcastle have gone over in 7 of 11 and the Eels are the highest-scoring total team in the competition by average. The H2H average is inflated by some recent shootouts. I lean over, but the new Eels halves combination keeps me off it as a Best Bet. They can score, but I would rather back the Knights covering than the over here.

Best Bet: Knights -14.5 $1.90 (1.5 units)
